Employers need to give people a chance and stop being so judgmental!

This is really depressing to read since baby boomers pretty much f**ked up our financial future for us! I honestly HATE the fact that they are STILL calling us self entitled, lazy, selfish, and all these other things when THEY were the generation that created every single problem that led us up to this day! At this point we’ll probably never save up enough to retire cause guess what? Good old Sallie Mae will need every little penny you have in order for you to pay off your student loan debt! The gap between living comfortably and poverty is REAL people and its frustrating as hell. I don’t know why baby boomers can’t admit to us and say hey we lied to you guys just like every other kid out there and we’re sorry because OBVIOUSLY going to school and getting a job in today’s job market is not enough to live comfortably like it was 40 – 50 years ago. Must have been REALLY nice to maintain a lucrative career back in the day, but hey I’ll never know what that would be like since I’m just a lazy, self-entitled, & selfish millennial with no way of ever achieving the American Dream. Thank you capitalism! >:^( #EnoughIsEnough #Reality #GoingBackwards #TheStruggleIsReal #DoomedGeneration

Generation Y gets so much blame for being the “Entitled Generation” well I hate to break it to you Baby Boomers out there but we’re not so different after all!

As a millennial, I HATE the fact that we are buried under SO MUCH student loan debt WHILE also working a full time job that pays very little for us to survive in this harsh economy! Open your eyes and look around you and see that its not a debt or spending problem, but a INCOME issue. For being the generation that is highly educated our ability to have financial freedom has become really difficult to achieve. WHY?!?!? Well because college degrees are becoming less valuable in a job market that is still recovering from the 2008 financial crisis that our previous generation had NEARLY destroyed in both the U.S. & World market. SMDH Good Job! So anyways you’re probably wondering well what can I do to get myself out of this situation? Very simple. Just FOLLOW THE MONEY and THE OPPORTUNITIES.
If you are one of those people who are looking for that ONE perfect job then you are wasting your time. You have to be open to the multiple opportunities that are out there because you will NEVER know where those opportunities will lead you next…. quite possibly your “dream job”. Instead take a different route. While job hunting, treat it as if you were selling yourself to a potential client or employer. It will enable you to break out of your comfort zone and seize a life changing career opportunity that will help you to become better equipped for today’s & tomorrow’s workforce. In addition, attend networking events with your fellow millennials! Meeting new and exciting people in the industry that you want to establish yourself in and are passionate about is a great way to learn more about your industry while also finding a great early career opportunity that will change your life forever! And lastly, always remember YOU are the CEO of you’re own life/career. DO NOT follow the status quo, always make new connections, create wealth for yourself, and most importantly CARPE DIEM! #EndRant

Haven’t done one of these in awhile so lets get to it! After reading Talia’s letter, I have come to conclusion that this was probably not the best idea to call out the CEO of Yelp publicly just because of his net worth. This would undoubtedly have consequences of any future employment opportunities that Talia will try to obtain in the near future. I mean I get it, as a millennial/college graduate, an entry-level job pays way less then what you were expecting even if the company you are working for is worth $300 million dollars or more. The reality is that once you graduate college, you have to start all over again and pay your dues. It will not be easy, but it is something that you will be proud of once you look back at it. Now this does not mean that you have to struggle to pay for the basic necessities in order to survive. NO ONE should have to struggle in order to survive in this world and I mean NO ONE!
The minimum wage was NEVER designed to be a livable wage and it will NEVER be….that is why so many people take side jobs just to make ends meet in order to SURVIVE in this harsh economy. By moving to San Francisco without having roommates in one of the most expensive cities in the country is not a good way to maintain a somewhat balance lifestyle. Now I cannot say that Talia’s letter did not raise a very important issue because it actually did, the cost of living in the Bay Area is extraordinarily high and it’s not just San Fran alone, its in some parts of the U.S. as well. This is a very SERIOUS problem that needs to be solved immediately if we are ever to move forward as a country. Lastly, make sure you realize the opportunity cost before you take the job, it’s less headaches for everybody..just sayin’. #EndRant
